Robbinsdale’s Travail Hosts 8-Course Homage to ‘Friends’
In 1994, a certain sitcom debuted on NBC that lasted 10 seasons and produced 236 episodes. During that time, “Friends” generated quite the following.
Thirty years later, the staff at Travail in Robbinsdale came up with an idea.
“I believe it was Samantha our GM who said, ‘why don’t we do something that’s like a Friends-themed pop up. Wouldn’t that be fun?’ And we all just went, ‘bingo,'” said Mike Brown, chef and owner of Travail.
Now, in Travail’s basement bar, Brown and his team have created an experience that basically says, “I’ll be there for you.”
“So what we like to do during dinner is try to immerse everybody into the vibe of what the TV show is,” Brown said.
The central perk of this dining experience, which they’re calling ‘Buddies Bar,’ is an eight-course tasting menu.
Every food and drink item will tie into the show, whether it’s Monica’s famous lasagna, Phoebe’s hummus, or a cheesecake that Rachel and Chandler may or may not have dropped on the floor.
“We are definitely not going that far with it,” Brown said, referring to cheesecake hitting the floor. “But we are doing an homage to that vibe.”
The entire space is an homage to the beloved sitcom. Everywhere customers turn, there’s something true fans will appreciate.
If you’d like to take part in this Friends-themed dining experience, it runs through June and tickets are $124 a person.
