Robbinsdale To Offer Spring Hands-On Gardening Class
A Robbinsdale program aiming to get more people interested in gardening starts up in March. The program, called “Robbinsdale Roots,” will be taught by a local farmer.
The instructor will take budding gardeners through the process from start to finish.
“We will show them the basics of how to garden, so that they can obviously maintain it in their free time, since we are aiming to meet every few weeks or so,” explained Will Cardenas, Robbinsdale’s engagement coordinator. “Then, eventually, show them how to sell, and how to market themselves as well.”
It costs $19 to take the class, which includes a number of sessions. Many of those lessons will be hands on. Cardenas said scholarships are available if people need them.
The group will partner with local farmers markets to help gardeners sell their produce.
The first lesson will be on March 14. More spots are available. People can sign up on the Robbinsdale Recreation catalog.
Cardenas said the start date could change depending on participants’ schedules. If you don’t have a spot to garden at your home you can also rent a plot at the Robbinsdale Community Gardens. That deadline is March 7.
