Robbinsdale Pizzeria Makes National Top 5 List for Best Pie
The editors of Food & Wine magazine ranked Pig Ate My Pizza, located inside Nouvelle Brewing in Robbinsdale, as the No. 4 best place for pizza in the country.
The Robbinsdale pizzeria was the only one in the middle of the country to receive any accolades. Nearly every pizzeria on Food & Wine’s top 28 list is either on the East Coast or West Coast.
The publication said the eatery “pulls off its funky, unorthodox pies with brio,” mentioning that its menu features toppings ranging from chicken tikka masala and tomato curry to crushed Doritos.
Mike Brown, one of the chef-owners of the renowned Travail Kitchen and Amusements restaurant in Robbinsdale as well as Nouvelle Brewing, said he didn’t know about the honor ahead of time.
“You’ve gotten a hundred texts from all your friends from people that follow the restaurant, and they’re all sending you the exact same article, and you’re like, ‘well I don’t know anything about this,'” said Brown.
Brown credits his team for doing the hard work of making the pizza dough, a process that takes days due to the fermenting process.
“The recognition is amazing. It takes a crazy amount of people, a huge team to produce the pizza that we make here and the style of pizza that we do,” said Brown.
The Robbinsdale pizzeria at Nouvelle Brewing is open evenings Tuesday through Thursday and open for lunch and dinner Friday through Sunday.
