Robbinsdale Interim Superintendent Leaving to be Deputy Commissioner of Education
Interim Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Burrage has accepted a job with the Minnesota Department of Education as deputy commissioner. She’s been with Robbinsdale schools since 2017 and has served as interim superintendent since July of last year, when superintendent Carlton Jenkins took another job.
The Minnesota Department of Education released the news of Burrage’s hire on March 26. Burrage will also oversee the new Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Center as well as the divisions of Government Relations and Human Resources/Agency Services.
The new Equity, Diversity and Inclusion center will provide leadership, direction and support in the development and implementation of equity framework that will guide the work and decision-making of MDE. Externally, the center will also support school districts and charter schools in best practices and specialized strategies to address systemic bias and inequities.
Burrage will finish out the school year as interim superintendent before starting at MDE on June 23.
The Robbinsdale School District says at that time, a new superintendent should be ready to start.
