Dist 281’s Empty Bowls Fundraiser raises $19K
PRISM’s Empty Bowls Fundraiser raised almost $19,000. With more than 12,000 people attending the fundraiser, organizers are calling it a success.
Students and community artists took center stage to show off their handmade clay bowls at Cooper High School Tuesday night. The ninth annual Empty Bowls fundraiser for the Robbinsdale School District featured more than 800 bowls help raise money for two local food shelves. Choirs, singers and orchestras offered entertainment.
“Everything is donated,” says Sharon Pleimling, one of the co-chairs of the event. “Those who attend donate to the cause which is vital to helping the food shelves. They get to have a soup and bread meal be entertained and take home a bowl to remember hunger.”
How You Can Help
The event raised close to $20,000 which will be split between PRISM and NEAR food shelves. If you would like to donate to the cause or learn more about it, you can do so by visiting the Empty Bowls website.
