Police Investigate Maple Grove Home Invasion Robbery
Maple Grove police uncovered a new detail Wednesday that could help solve a home invasion case. The crime happened in the 16800 block of 80th Place North, around 10:30 Tuesday morning. The homeowner was there at the time when Maple Grove police say a man forced his way inside. Police are not saying how he got into the home, but they say he was not armed.
“The victim is doing well,” said Captain Adam Lindquist. “She’s very shaken up, that’s not what you’d expect living in our community at home alone to encounter somebody like this.”
He says the man confronted the woman and demanded she handed over her purse and car keys. The man then took off with her 2015 Silver Honda Accord.
“The vehicle was found in Minneapolis. It was unoccupied, so our investigators are going down there this morning and try to process the car, looking for any evidence in the car,” explained Lindquist.
The suspect description is very vague: black man, early 20s, 5-2 to 5-4, stocky build, black hooded sweatshirt, and grey cargo pants.
Maple Grove police are checking to see if this case is related to a string of other home invasions throughout the metro. If you have any information about this case, call the police.
