Plymouth Ice Cream Shop Sells ‘Cap’n Jack Crunch’ to Benefit Cancer Research
A popular Plymouth ice cream shop has come out with a new flavor this month to help benefit a good cause
Earlier this month, Honey & Mackie’s began selling a new flavor called “Cap’n Jack Crunch.” The flavor was inspired by Wayzata High School football captain, Jack Simon.
Last year, Simon was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He’s now in remission, but he still works to raise money for cancer research.
Honey & Mackie’s has partnered with Plymouth-based Kelly Brown Real Estate Group, which will donate $1 to Wayzata’s annual Tackle Cancer fundraiser for every scoop sold of Cap’n Jack Crunch.
“We definitely encourage people to come on in and try it and support a good cause,” said Suzanne Varecka, owner of Honey & Mackie’s. “Typically for a flavor of the month, we sell through about 20-24 tubs throughout the course of a month, and we’re on track to exceed that by the end of September.”
Cap’n Jack Crunch is a brown-sugar based ice cream mixed with chunks of Cap’n Crunch cereal.
“When we came up with the idea, I thought it was gonna be really good,” said Jack Simon. “It’s better than what I thought it would be.”
The flavor is available at Honey & Mackie’s through Oct. 8.
