Plant Your Patience: Gardening Season “At Least 3 Weeks” Away
Our unpredictable, uncooperative, and unseasonable weather is pushing back gardening season. Experts at Dundee Nursery and Landscaping say many gardeners have come into the store, itching to get their hands into some dirt. John Henning of Dundee Nursery suggests people plant flowers in the house and then move them outside once it warms up. He says we have about three weeks until we can plant outdoors.
“We still have to wait for the snow to go and then we have to wait for the frost to go out of here. So, we’re hoping by the end of the next week a good chance of people wanting to do pots and putting them outside,” explained Henning.
Henning warns people not to walk on their grass.
“If the snow does melt off and you see you have some brown spots out there, don’t walk around on your lawn, you’re going to walk in that mud and compact the soil more,” he said.
Dundee Nursery has a special event this weekend where you can create your own custom planter or hanging basket. You plant it and they take care of it until you come pick up at later date. You have to register so call ahead.
