Person Shot Driving Along I-94 in Brooklyn Center
Brooklyn Center police are looking for a driver who fired shots at another motorist Monday afternoon, striking and injuring a man on Interstate 94.
The shooting happened at about 2:20 p.m. on I-94 near 57th Avenue North. Officers located the man and immediately started rendering aid. The man was taken to an area hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening, police said.
The individual who shot the man was believed to be driving a black truck or SUV, police said. Police are still looking for the shooter.
At this point, authorities don’t believe the shooting was random. Brooklyn Center police were assisted at the scene by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota State Patrol and North Memorial Health paramedics.
About an hour earlier, a different shooting occurred in the area, believed to be near I-94 and 49th Avenue in Minneapolis. Brooklyn Center police say that incident was not related to the Brooklyn Center shooting.
Several days earlier, another shooting between vehicles was reported in Brooklyn Center. In that incident, on the 7200 block of Unity Avenue, two young men suffered gunshot wounds. Police continue to investigate that shooting.
