Oxbow Creek Principal Rolf Carlsen Calling it a Career
Rolf Carlsen, the longtime principal of Oxbow Creek Elementary in Brooklyn Park, will step down at the end of the school year. He spent more than 30 years in education as a teacher and administrator.
Tuesday night, hundreds of people packed Oxbow Creek’s gymnasium to give him a proper send-off.
As part of the celebration, Carlsen opened a time capsule buried back in 1987, the which is the year Carlsen began teaching at Oxbow Creek.
“You know, to come back and be the principal of a staff that you got to know as a teacher was really a unique opportunity for me,” Carlsen said. “So some of the friendships and the colleagues that I’ve maintained all these years, that’s gonna be hard to leave, and I hope to continue a lot of those friendships.”
Parents and students also got to meet Missy Monson, who will be Carlsen’s successor.
