Osseo Alumni Marching Band Honors ’08 Grad
Rob Margolis loved playing the tuba. He also loved playing with the Osseo Alumni Marching Band.
Margolis, a 2008 Osseo grad who devoted his life to music and education, passed away recently. He was 33.
“He fell in love with playing tuba at 12 years old, playing in every ensemble available, one of which being the Osseo High School marching band,” read a statement sent on behalf of the family.
The Osseo Alumni Marching Band paid tribute to Margolis on Saturday at the Lions Roar parade.
After years of music education, Margolis eventually received a doctorate of musical arts in tuba performance and a certificate of music theory pedagogy in 2019 from Arizona State University. Margolis also went in teaching math and began working toward getting a degree in math education from Western Governors University in Millcreek, Utah. He was expected to graduate next year.
“Anyone who knew Rob, even for a short time, knew his heart and kindness and experienced the love he radiated to the world,” said the statement.
CORRECTION: An earlier version said the Osseo High School marching band paid tribute to Margolis. It was actually the Osseo Alumni Marching Band.
