Osseo Announces Hire of Two Police Officers
The Osseo City Council approved in its 2024 budget the hire of three new police officers. Two of those hires were announced this week.
Osseo Police Chief Shane Mikkelson introduced the hires at the Dec. 8 Osseo City Council meeting.
One of the officers hired, Edgar Gallegos, has previous experience with the Hopkins and Golden Valley police departments. Katherine Harris, meanwhile, comes to Osseo after working as a community service officer with Anoka County and the city of Anoka.
Chief Mikkelson said one more hire is anticipated soon. He said it’s the first expansion of the city’s police department since 2019.
The new hires put the total number of sworn officers with the Osseo Police Department at 10. That includes eight patrol officers, a lieutenant and the chief.
