Newsmakers: Rep. Ginny Klevorn on Redevelopment Projects, State Flag and More
Rep. Ginny Klevorn (DFL-Plymouth) says Plymouth citizens will be able to see changes near the Prudential site in Plymouth, thanks in part to a new TIF district.
“The last legislative session we were able to pass the TIF districts which would enable us to generate the revenue which would allow us to redevelop the intersections around the property,” said Klevorn. “So that the transit and traffic would be able to flow well and be able to support the site in a way that would keep our citizens safe and move our commerce to the corridors.”
Klevorn also says residents can watch for resurfacing on Hwy 55 and redevelopment near County Road 73. Learn more here.
“It’s a really big project for the city of Plymouth,” said Klevorn, speaking of the interchange at Hwy. 55 and County Road 73 where the Station 73 bus garage is. “We are asking Hennepin County to provide $5 million dollars in that redevelopment so we can straighten County Road 73, put in guttering, and make it a place safe for all of the traffic that goes to the bus station as well as pedestrians as we redevelop that area.”
Klevorn says the time between sessions has been quite busy. She’s serving on the Legislative Task Force on Aging as well as working on Capitol Mall improvement.
“It’s making sure the Capitol mall is a place where people can come, they can recreate, they can come to be educated, or they can come to demonstrate their political concerns or legislative concerns. It’s been a fascinating project to be involved with.”
Klevorn says she’s also talked to several residents about the new state flag and the new seal.
“It’s been very interesting to watch the process,” said Klevorn. “Never before have we had something that has engaged so many Minnesotans.”
