New Renderings Show Phase 2 of Maple Grove Community Center Expansion
New architect renderings show what phase two of the Maple Grove Community Center expansion and renovation project may look like.
The expansion includes a new community center entrance, and a new activity and aquatics center, which will replace the current Life Time space. An outdoor aquatics area and new banquet hall are also part of the plans.
The total cost of phase two is estimated at just under $72 million. Phase one included the addition of a third ice sheet to the community center. A 0.5 percent sales tax approved by voters in 2022 is helping to pay for most of the project.
Features included in phase two were based on feedback from park board and city council members, city staff and a community center working group.

The Maple Grove City Council approved the budget estimate and design development package at its Jan. 20 meeting.
“The project goal remains to provide our community with a well-designed, functional lasting facility,” said Chuck Stifter, Maple Grove’s parks and recreation director.
Minneapolis-based JLG Architects and Golden Valley-based RJM Construction are leading the project.
The city plans to seek bids from contractors this spring.
Construction is slated to start in September and run through 2028.
