New Hope Swears In New Police Officer
New Hope police welcomed a new officer to the force.
Marylee Larson was sworn in at the Oct. 25 city council meeting. Larson has already completed her probation training. She is among 33 current New Hope officers, one shy of the full budgeted allotment. One of the department’s veteran police officers, Scott Crocker, retired on Friday after 36 years of service to the city.
After the swearing-in, New Hope City Council member John Elder commented on the camaraderie and morale boost the department has seen under New Hope Chief Tim Hoyt.
“The chief has done so much, as far as bringing this department together,” said Elder. “The support that the officers are feeling amongst each other and with the administration, that hasn’t always been there.”
Elder added, “It’s noticeable and it will better serve the citizens of this community.”
