New Hope, Osseo Pass Census Ordinances
New Hope and Osseo are the latest cities to make it easier for census workers to have access to apartment buildings.
Robbinsdale, Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center and Plymouth have already passed similar ordinances.
New Hope and Osseo both tackled the issue at recent city council meetings. Statistics show people who live in rental housing or apartment buildings are the least likely to be counted in the U.S. Census.
Under the new rule, workers would work with apartment managers to gain access to the building. Residents will also receive multiple letters in the mail reminding them of the census.
