Nadia Cakes Keeps April Fool’s Tradition Alive with Unicorn Poop
Unicorns have once again descended upon a popular Maple Grove cupcake shop and left something, shall we say, personal behind.
Over the next few days, Nadia Cakes expect to sell up to 5,000 cupcakes, including its version of “unicorn poop.” The unicorn poop cupcakes have become an annual tradition around April Fools’ Day.
“We spend probably the first 2-3 months of the year planning for this event,” said Lauren Vandeberg, the general manager of the Maple Grove Nadia Cakes. “We are looking for inspiration online, we switch things, we change things, and we have a lot of chefs who will go to a restaurant and get something for dinner and they go, ‘I want to make this into a cake form.’ Everybody gets to just kind of go wild and have a good time.”
Other creative cupcakes include “moldy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches,” “fried chicken buckets” and “cheeseburger whoopie pies.” The seasonal flavors will be available through April 1.
