Motorcyclist Fatally Struck at Brooklyn Park Intersection ID’d
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the motorcyclist killed by a driver last week at a Brooklyn Park intersection.
Ronnie Rowles, 59, of Anoka died when his motorcycle was struck by an SUV about 8:50 p.m. on Sept. 20 at the intersection of County Road 81 and West Broadway.
Police say the driver of the SUV, a 15-year-old with a learner’s permit, did not have the right of way when the teen turned into the motorcyclist. According to Brooklyn Park police, the driver had a flashing yellow signal while attempting to turn left onto West Broadway from County Road 81 when the crash occurred.
State law requires a driver with a learner’s permit to have an adult 21 years or older in the front seat, which police say was the case here.
