Realtor Abducted, Killed After Maple Grove House Showing
Prosecutors say a house showing in Maple Grove was a setup that lured 28-year-old Monique Baugh to her death.
Baugh worked for the Kris Lindahl Real Estate team. Police say the mother of two received a cell phone call requesting a house showing in the afternoon on New Year’s Eve. She arrived at the Maple Grove home, when a short time later a U-Haul van showed up.
According to the criminal complaint, surveillance video showed a person forcibly walking someone into the van before driving away. Baugh’s body was found later that day in a north Minneapolis alley in the 1300 block of Russell Avenue North.
About an hour before police found Baugh’s body, officers responded to a Minneapolis home where Baugh’s boyfriend was shot and injured.
On Jan. 2, police arrested a suspect in the shootings. Cedric Berry, 41, of Minneapolis is charged with kidnapping and second-degree murder. According to court documents, authorities believe the suspect is a “rival” drug dealer to Baugh’s boyfriend.
