Mill Valley Market in Golden Valley Marks One-Year Anniversary
If you’re a lover of outdoor recreation, Theodore Wirth Park in Golden Valley has a little something for everyone.
“It’s phenomenal. It’s just never-ending trails. You can go on forever,” said Sophie Meads of Minneapolis.
All of those trails lead to the Trailhead building. Inside this wooden fortress of recreation, Mill Valley Market serves up healthy, nutrient-dense food to fuel the active lifestyles of its customers.
“There’s a lot of people come through for biking in the summer, and a lot of people for cross-country skiing in the winter,” said Willie Christenson, a staff member at Mill Valley Market. “There’s generally a lot of people around here that are hungry and want to drink too, you know.”
Replaced Cajun Twist restaurant
Mill Valley Market opened inside the Trailhead in June of 2020, filling the void that was created when the Cajun Twist restaurant vacated the space in the fall of 2019.
Its menu consists of sandwiches, breakfast food, and a variety of drinks for people to enjoy while relaxing on the outdoor patio.
“I think this is the best food you can get in the neighborhood, really,” Christenson said. “We get all quality ingredients. We make most of what we can in house here, and it’s unique in that way.”
Customers say they’re grateful to have a restaurant tucked away in the wilderness.
“I was just on my phone looking to see if I can find anything within walking distance and this popped up,” said Meads. “And then I did some research and I was like, ‘wow, this could not be more perfect.’ I had no idea there was even anything over here.”
Mill Valley Market delayed its opening by a few months because of the pandemic. But after a year in business, staff members look forward to being a go-to spot for anyone wanting to enjoy a meal or a drink at this recreation destination.
“I’ll definitely be over here again,” Meads said.
