Maranatha Christian Academy Seniors Honored with Yard Signs, Gifts
Class may not be in session at Maranatha Christian Academy in Brooklyn Park due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Friday was a special day for the school’s 57 seniors.
Members of the senior class made their way to the school Friday afternoon to pick up free yard signs that read “Home of a Mustang Senior #MCAClassof2020.”
“Obviously this year is unlike any other senior year, and in many ways, I think these seniors have risen to the occasion,” said Brian Sullivan, Maranatha Christian Academy Head of School. “They’re not allowing this to define them. And yet, we wanted to do something special, something out of the ordinary, something that was whimsical and fun and yet really acknowledged the fact that they’re an amazing class.”
The students also received free chicken sandwiches courtesy of the Chick-Fil-A in Maple Grove.
Meanwhile, staff members at MCA continue to work with the senior class on plans for the commencement ceremony and the senior luncheon. Sullivan says they plan to have a virtual commencement.
“We’re gonna have a Zoom meeting next Thursday with all the seniors and their parents,” Sullivan said. “So we’re going to do this very collaboratively, get their input, figure out how do we design this new commencement model in this new normal?”
Maranatha Christian Academy’s commencement ceremony is Friday, May 29.
