Maple Grove’s Elm Creek Swim Pond To Close Aug. 17
One of the most popular spots in the northwest metro for families to visit in the summer will close about two weeks earlier than normal.
The Elm Creek Swim Pond in Maple Grove will shut down for the season on Sunday, Aug. 17.
The Three Rivers Park District is in the middle of a big construction project at Elm Creek Park. Starting Aug. 18, crews will repave the park’s roads, the parking lots and build two additional paved lots.

A repaving project at Elm Creek Park will begin on Aug. 18.
The swim pond is typically open through Labor Day, but park officials say the minor inconvenience will pay off long-term.
“It’s a huge project. Quite an undertaking,” said Dominic Ray, the park operations supervisor. “So we just need all that time to make sure that we’re able to get it all in before any snow falls or any weather gets in the way.”
When the swim pond closes, Three Rivers encourages people to visit the beaches at Lake Minnetonka, Fish Lake and French Regional Parks.
