Maple Grove Prepares for ‘Wonders of Winter’
There may not be a lot of snow on the ground, but a celebration of all things winter is happening this weekend in Maple Grove.
And best of all, it’s free of charge.
“We kind of go whether there’s 10 feet of snow on the ground or zero feet of snow and 40 degrees,” said Roee Hecht, Maple Grove’s recreation coordinator. “So we try to pick activities that can work either way; and we also have alternate activities just in case there’s mounds of snow or not enough snow.”
On Saturday, Feb. 1, Maple Grove’s Central Park will play host to its annual “Wonders of Winter” event.

Families can enjoy free horse and wagon rides during the Wonders of Winter event, courtesy of the Maple Grove Lions.
Ice skating is always on tap at the skating loop, but families will also be able to make s’mores, watch ice sculptors in action, enjoy horse and wagon rides courtesy of the Maple Grove Lions, and take part in plenty of other fun activities to celebrate the season.
“It’s the most fun, getting to see people come to the park and enjoy everything that we plan and put together,” added Hecht. “It’s the whole reason we do what we do and why we’re in parks and recreation.”
The Wonders of Winter event goes from 1 – 4 p.m.
