Maple Grove High School Teachers Get Special Treat
Teachers and staff members in the Osseo School District received a special treat this week.
Members of the Osseo-Maple Grove American Legion Auxiliary Unit 172 made a big cookie delivery Thursday to Maple Grove Senior High School in honor of American Education Week.
“We have been doing cookies probably for four years,” said Cathy Thornhill, president of Osseo-Maple Grove Unit 172. “Before that, they were doing the traditional apple, and we found out they like cookies better.”
Thornhill and her group delivered treats to 11 schools throughout the district as a way to thank everyone who works in public schools.
“Usually, the weather is not real conducive to doing this, but we love doing it,” Thornhill said. “And they’re all very, very thankful, very happy that just to be recognized, and know that somebody outside of the school appreciates what they do.”
American Education Week dates back to 1921 and is always celebrated the week before Thanksgiving.
