Maple Grove High School Presents “Ragtime”
Maple Grove Senior High students are polishing up last minute details for their presentation of “Ragtime.” The show opens Thursday.
“In this show everybody is split up into racial groups,” explains junior Kennedy Brown. “We have the immigrants. We have Harlem, which is mostly African Americans. The immigrants are like Eastern Europeans. And then we have the Rochelle, New Rochelle people who are like American citizens, upper class, New York.”
Ragtime has a large cast, and from the full orchestra to the technical crew, every detail is worked out and honed to perfection.
“Anything you hear, we have speakers around the entire house that we’ve been calibrating and getting ready for opening night. So it’s quite the long process to get us to the opening of the show,” said senior Adamson Novak.
“The biggest challenge about Ragtime is that it’s so large. Every story is gigantic in scope and told through a line of a small group of people,” said director Nikki Swoboda.
