Man Critically Injured in Brooklyn Park Shooting
Brooklyn Park police continue to investigate a shooting case that left a young man in critical condition Wednesday.
Police initially received multiple calls shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday of shots fired in the 7600 block of West Broadway Avenue. That area is a strip mall near Cub and Target.
When officers arrived, they found evidence of gunfire, police said. Police also say that they learned the victim was driven away in a private vehicle to a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds.
The incident required a large law enforcement presence as officers searched for the shooter, police said.
Brooklyn Park police told CCX News Thursday that officers are actively working the case and following up on leads to a possible suspect.
“It appears at this time, the victim and the suspect knew one another, and there is no threat to the public,” said Brooklyn Park Deputy Police Chief William Barritt.
Numerous surrounding agencies assisted Brooklyn Park police in the immediate response, including Hennepin County Crime Lab, which processed the crime scene.
