Local Candidates Declare Intention to Run for County Board

The list of candidates running for local county commissioner seats continues to grow.

Brooklyn Park Mayor Jeff Lunde announced he would run for the Hennepin County Board District 1 seat. Hennepin County employee De’Vonna Pittman of New Hope and Brooklyn Center City Council member April Graves have also declared. Longtime commissioner Mike Opat recently announced his retirement from the seat.

Kim Zellers of Maple Grove announced intentions to run for the District 7 seat. Zellers is the spouse of former Minnesota House Speaker Kurt Zellers. Zellers will run for seat currently held by Jeff Johnson, who is also retiring.

ADDITION: Community activist Yolanda Roth is also running for the District 1 seat.
