Ice Castles Taking Shape in Maple Grove
Now that cold weather has descended upon the Twin Cities, crews are hard at work making Maple Grove look like a winter wonderland. Ice castles along Main Street are beginning to take shape.
Construction kicked off over the weekend. Officials say as long as temperatures consistently stay below freezing, a series of sprinklers will run continuously to form the ice that crew members need to build the castles.
“A lot of excitement’s happening around the city in anticipation of this,” said Anne Anderson, general manager of Experience Maple Grove. “And now that it’s actually coming to fruition, I think, yeah the anticipation of excitement just continues to build.”
Tickets for the Ice Castles attraction go on sale Nov. 29. Utah-based Ice Castles is behind the project.
Officials from Experience Maple Grove hope to have the attraction open by mid to late December.
“We do have a landing page on Experience Maple Grove that should give you all the information you need to know about tickets, hotel packages, where you can get a free ticket,” Anderson said. “Follow us on Instagram and Facebook. We’ll have ticket giveaways and everything you’ll need to know.”
