Hy-Vee Market Grilles to Become Wahlburgers, Will Impact Brooklyn Park, New Hope Locations
Change is coming to Hy-Vee Market Grille restaurants. That includes the restaurants in Brooklyn Park and New Hope. Hy-vee has announced it will replace all its full-service Market Grille restaurant locations with Wahlburgers.
Wahlburgers is a fast-casual concept co-founded by celebrity brothers Mark and Donnie Wahlberg (and their chef brother Paul Wahlberg).
The changeover will bring significant changes, eliminating table ordering and providing counter service instead. The Star Tribune reports that 45 restaurant workers at the Brooklyn Park location were called into an emergency meeting and notified of layoffs and transfer options.
Hy-Vee Market Grille Changeover to Take Place Through Spring
The transition is expected to take place through the spring. While the changeover takes place, Market Grille restaurants will serve a more limited menu.
The changes don’t impact Hy-Vee’s Market Grille Express locations, which already provide a quick-service model. Robbinsdale, Plymouth and Maple Grove have Hy-Vee stores with the express concept.
Back in 2017, Hy-Vee announced a partnership with the Wahlberg brothers to open more than two dozen franchised Wahlburgers locations. The first one opened at the Mall of America in 2018. CCX News reported on the second one opening in Maple Grove last month.
