Elm Creek Park Reserve to Host Governor’s Deer Hunting Opener
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will visit the Elm Creek Park Reserve on Nov. 3, as Three Rivers Park District has been selected to host the 2022 Deer Hunting Opener.
Besides the governor’s visit, there will be an all-day exhibit “All About Deer” at Eastman Nature Center that will highlight deer hunting and deer population management tools. Visitors can learn more about deer habits and habitat, as well as why using non-lead ammunition for deer hunting helps protect eagles and other raptors.
“Three Rivers Park District is excited to host the 2022 Governor’s Deer Hunting Opener,” said John Moriarty, Three Rivers Park District senior manager of wildlife, in a release. “We appreciate the opportunity to highlight our long-standing and effective deer management program. Special archery and shotgun hunts are important deer management tools in our parks and provide opportunities for hunters who do not have private property or the time to travel ‘up north’ to hunt.”
Opening day is Nov. 5.
