Golden Valley Seeks Input for Downtown Design
Golden Valley is seeking input to help influence the look and design of its downtown area in the coming years.
Golden Valley received an $85,000 grant from Hennepin County to help fund a streetscape improvement and wayfinding systems plan. The city will also contribute $35,000 toward this study.
As downtown becomes more residential, city officials want to find out how to improve the area for pedestrians and bicyclists.
Through a web-based survey, the city is asking residents if more signs are needed to direct people to shops, restaurants and parks. It will also gather input on how to enhance the overall character of the downtown area.
“So a really important aspect of this process is having community input,” said Christine Coestello, Golden Valley’s housing and economic development manager. “For people who live here in Golden Valley, who work here in Golden Valley, we want to get their opinion and feedback on accessibility, what they’d like to see, what’s important for them as a user of the downtown area.”
The survey is available here.
City officials will present their final report to the city council in the fall.
