Makeover Coming to Golden Valley’s Medley Park
Golden Valley’s Medley Park has had a history of problems, but it could be getting a significant makeover.
Since the 1970’s, the park has suffered from poor soil and drainage conditions that damaged the ball fields and tennis courts.
As a result, the city had to stop scheduling activities on the ball fields about four years ago.
Meanwhile, despite half a dozen resurfacing projects, the tennis courts have multiple cracks.
Now, the city is looking to possibly replace the tennis courts and ball fields with a community garden and off-leash dog park.
“We’re gonna get some formal estimates during the summer season, look at our budget, and probably bring it back sometime in September or October to the Open Space & Recreation Commission,” said Rick Birno, Golden Valley’s parks and recreation director. “And say, ‘here’s what we’re hearing from the community, here’s what we’re hearing through the comprehensive plan process,’ and have a discussion on where we’d potentially like to go.”
Anyone with feedback can contact Rick Birno at 763-512-2342.
