Golden Valley Celebrates Opening of New Luxury Apartment Complex
The city of Golden Valley celebrated the opening of The Winn at Golden Valley, a 303-unit luxury apartment complex located near Highway 55 and Wisconsin Avenue.
The project, which started in 2021, took the space of a large Wells Fargo branch building, while the bank moved to a smaller space on the site where a former Park Nicollet building once stood.
“I know the city has a plan for its downtown. And this technically is in the downtown. We thought this was a good opportunity to work with the city on achieving that vision,” said Fabrizio Montermini, vice president and principal of Edina-based Sentinel Management Co.
Golden Valley’s plan involves updating downtown civic infrastructure, which includes a new public safety facility, and potentially a new city hall and county library.
Tenants began moving into The Winn at Golden Valley in January. The multifamily apartment building is more then 50 percent occupied and 65 percent leased, ahead of initial expectations, said Montermini.
The complex includes studio units all the way up to 3-bedroom apartments with different room styles to choose from. Amenities include a hot tub, sauna, movie theater and work-from-home space.
“We thought that housing would be well received in a city like this where a lot of people to work, a lot of people come to play, and so we want to create more opportunities for people to live,” said Montermini.

Range of Rent, Affordability Options
The Winn at Golden Valley follows other luxury apartments that opened over the past decade in the city. Those include the Hello Apartments (2017) and Xenia Apartments (2022).
Montermini said The Winn at Golden Valley could be ideal for downsizing couples, or residents who work in Golden Valley, noting the city has more has full-time jobs than it has residents.
The average rent at The Winn is $2,230, said Josh Hinchley, vice president of leasing and marketing at Sentinel Management Co. Rents range from $1,600 for smaller units to $3,400 for the top-end 3-bedroom units.
The complex also has an affordability component to go along with the market-rate units. Fifteen percent of the apartments are income-restricted, or units that serve families who earn 60 percent of the area median income.
