Family: Child Attacked by Pit Bulls in Brooklyn Park Not Expected To Survive
Representatives for the family of a Champlin toddler attacked by pit bulls on July 19 in the back yard of a Brooklyn Park home say the child is not expected to survive.
An online GoFundMe post says the family is preparing their son, 3-year-old Covil Allen, to be an organ donor.
The post by family friend Dustin Chromey remarked that the toddler’s donated organs “will save more children’s lives in hopes that no other parent has to endure the pain that they are experiencing right now.”
The attack happened last Friday in the back yard of a Brooklyn Park home. Police tried to rescue the boy by shooting both dogs.
The mother of the child, Natasha Palacios Vega, was also severely injured in the attack and has needed multiple surgeries on her leg.
Police told CCX News that the victims were visiting the owner of the dogs when the mauling occurred.
A separate pit bull attack also occurred this week in Brooklyn Park. The children in that incident were not seriously hurt.
