“Elevate Futures” App to Help People Find Jobs
A new partnership between the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce and Hennepin County will help to better connect job seekers with employment opportunities.
“What we’re finding now is, as we have an increase in the dislocated workers, we’ve got more need now for that matchmaking and connecting,” said Shannon Full, president of the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce. “So everything from awareness of what positions are out there, but also scaling up and allowing people to shift career paths as needed.”
Full says the TwinWest Chamber, which is merging with the Minneapolis Regional Chamber, is in the process of developing a program with Hennepin County called “Elevate Futures.” The plan is to create a smartphone app that would make job opportunities more accessible to people seeking employment.
Full says she would also like to see the technology utilized by the different workforce agencies throughout the county.
“It’s a very innovative approach to workforce,” Full said. “We’re really excited about it. We couldn’t do it without the great partnerships we have at the table from education currently, but also our public sector partners going forward. This does exist in other regions of the country, but it’s the first here and we’re hoping it has great results for the entire state.”
The TwinWest Chamber hopes to have the Elevate Futures app available for people to use by August.
