Custom Car Building Proposed for New Hope Site
The New Hope Planning Commission is recommending approval of a custom car business expansion that would grow jobs, but also require significant construction.
Automotive Concepts wants to expand its custom car business in an industrial area of southeast New Hope. The expansion could create as many as 35 new jobs.
To make the expansion happen, the project would require a large amount of soil removal. The topography is very hilly and the business would need to remove 15 feet of elevation.
The project would also require the demolition of a vacant single family home and a couple small outbuildings. The property at 2919 Nevada Ave. N. used to be owned by Ray Kmetz, the man who entered New Hope City Hall in 2015 and opened fire on police officers. He was shot and killed when officers fired back.
Automotive Concepts does vehicle customization, including tire and body work, as well as vehicle wraps for sports teams.
Because of the amount of redevelopment involved, the business is asking the city for tax increment financing assistance. City officials say the expanded business would be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
