Cullens Ice Cream Brings New Sweet Treat Experience to New Hope
On a hot summer day, few things in life are more satisfying than ice cream.
“My favorite is Pirates Bounty because it has M&M’s, caramel, chocolate, it’s just everything’s in it, so it’s really good,” said Natalie Staples.
As of July 3, people can now get these sweet treats at Cullens Ice Cream in New Hope.
“The smiles that we put on people’s faces when we give them their ice cream, it’s a lot of fun to see that,” said Kristen Harvey-Hill, the CEO of Cullens.

One of the sweet treats you can get at Cullens Ice Cream in New Hope.
The ice cream shop also has locations in Champlin and Coon Rapids. When a storefront along 42nd Avenue became available, they decided to scoop it up.
“You’re on a busy road, so you want traffic to see you,” said Harvey-Hill, when asked about opening in New Hope. “And the other part is, there’s not a whole lot of variety in New Hope for ice cream.”
Ice cream is certainly the main draw, but there’s something a little different about the Cullens experience.
“You know who I am? Jammin’ Jeff, baby,” said a man to a group of customers.
Not long ago, this storefront was home to Mountain Mudd coffee shop, which was known for having Elvis impersonators serenade the customers.
Ten years later, folks get to witness the wrestling persona of ‘Jammin’ Jeff Wilcox.
“It’s hot outside, nice and cool in here,” Jammin’ Jeff said to a CCX photographer, channeling his wrestling personality. “Ooh. Eat some ice cream. You know why? ‘Cause I walk alone, I stand alone. You mess with me you’d better leave me alone. ‘Cause I’ve got the moves and I’ve got the class. If that doesn’t work, come on down and get some ice cream baby! Come on down, 42nd and Quebec we wanna see you.”

‘Jammin’ Jeff Wilcox serves at Cullens Ice Cream’s hype man.
If Jammin’ Jeff isn’t your jam, people can still enjoy more than 20 different flavors of ice cream, a variety of homemade cones and an experience that will keep people with a sweet tooth coming back for more.
Their goal is to make Cullens feel like home.
“You know, it’s about keeping the customers happy and keeping ’em safe,” said Harvey-Hill.
Ice cream isn’t the only thing you’ll be able to get at Cullens. The owners also plan to bring in an assortment of vintage candy for people to purchase.
