Crystal, Maple Grove Each Approve New Childcare Center
The northwest metro will soon gain two new childcare options in Crystal and Maple Grove.
This week, the Crystal City Council gave the go-ahead to childcare provider New Horizon Academy to build a new facility in an office building at 7000 57th Avenue.
The childcare center will have room for 189 children and 29 employees.
“It’s really nice to have those types of services in our community — it makes our community stronger,” said Crystal Mayor Jim Adams. “This is really focused on who we are as a city. And we are primarily a residential community so that means we’re going to have kids.”
New Horizon Academy has locations in across the Twin Cities, as well as in Kansas, Colorado, Iowa and Idaho.
Meanwhile, the Maple Grove City Council also approved plans for a new childcare facility.
Lil’ Explorers childcare is planned for construction on two vacant parking lots near Wedgwood Road and 67th Avenue North.
The 15,000-square-foot building will have 10 classrooms and three fenced-in outdoor play areas.
The facility will also have an indoor sport court and room for 189 children.
