Construction To Begin This Summer at Mississippi Gateway Regional Park
This week the Brooklyn Park city council approved funding 15 percent of the construction costs for improvements to the Mississippi Gateway Regional Park.
The city has been working with the Three Rivers Park District on a joint planning effort since 2015.
Plans for the park are robust and impressive. There will be a new dog off-leash area, an archery range, picnic shelter and maintenance facility. The Rush Creek Regional Trail will be realigned.
The cost of the project is estimated to be $4.5 million with Brooklyn Park picking up 15 percent of the cost and the Three Rivers Park District paying for the rest. The project is also being considered for $3 million in state funding during this year’s legislative session.
Utility work will begin this summer, but the project isn’t expected to be finished until 2026.
