City of Crystal Prepares for Winter
Snow is in the forecast, and local cities like Crystal are gearing up for it. For weeks, the Crystal Public Works Department has been preparing for winter-like weather. Snowplows and other heavy equipment are sitting idle at the public works facility, waiting for the first flakes of the season to fall.
“We’ve got all our equipment ready, plows are on, brine tanks are on,” said Crystal Streets Supervisor Bill Bowman.
The salt shed is fully stocked, the mountain of salt almost reaches the roof. There’s ample supply because city officials ordered what they needed a year ago. Staff ordered more based on last year’s snowfall.
When winter weather does finally arrive, and the snowplows eventually hit the streets, Crystal officials want to remind folks to make room for them to do their jobs.
“Don’t crowd the plow,” and make sure your garbage cans, basketball hoops are off streets and sidewalks,” said Bowman.
