Christina’s Child Care Plans Brooklyn Park Center, Would Offer Evening Hours
Plans are in the works for a new child care center in Brooklyn Park that would offer something the area doesn’t see a lot of: child care in the evening.
Christina’s Child Care Center plans to build on a site that used to be a former Burger King. The lot is now vacant and is owned by the city’s Economic Development Authority.
The child care center wanted to build a couple years ago, but COVID-19 delayed the project. The center would help serve parents with a wide range of work schedules. According to the owner, Ophelia Zeogar, the hours are expected to be 5:30 a.m. until 11:30 p.m.
“I think this is exceptional for families to have access to quality child care in the evenings. It’s not typical,” said Nichole Klonowski, Brooklyn Park Planning Commission member.
The Brooklyn Park Planning Commission recommended approval to give the center a conditional use permit at its recent meeting. The Brooklyn Park City Council is expected to take up the matter at its Oct. 24 meeting
This would be the second location for Christina’s Child Care Center, which also has a location at 5510 West Broadway Avenue in Crystal.
