Ceviche Seafood House Brings a Taste of Peru to Plymouth
It may be the middle of winter, but at Ceviche Seafood House in Plymouth, the goal of owner Cindy Xu is for customers to feel like they’re in the Peruvian Amazon.
“I want people to walk in feeling like they’re in South America,” said Xu. “I traveled all around the world, and Peru is the only place I find that I love everything they have.”
That love of Peru, and its cuisine, is what inspired Xu to open Ceviche Seafood House earlier this month.
It’s the culmination of a dream that was three years in the making.
“Peruvian food, they use really fresh seafood and fresh ingredients, that’s what I love about it,” she said.
Xu and her father helped develop the menu. which has a diverse mix of items from Peru, China, Japan and Spain.
Each dish has the perfect mix of ingredients to make the flavors pop.
“A lot of people say we make the best ceviche in here,” Xu said.
The signature item is the ceviche, which uses fresh seabass, lime juice and a citrus-based marinade known as tiger’s milk.
“I have it in Mexico every time we go down there and I love it,” said Scott Housman, a customer from Medina. “And I thought, well let’s try it out.”
The hope is that other people follow suit, as the restaurant works to build a customer base.
Other signature dishes include the grilled octopus, the seafood rice and the sushi.
“Very different,” Housman said of the menu. “And to get the word out would be a good thing because not everybody goes to Peruvian restaurants up here in Minnesota. It’s pretty cold up here.”
Customers will feel the warmth the moment they step foot into Plymouth’s newest dining establishment. It’s a must-try destination for any seafood lover.
“I want more people to try the healthy and yummy food,” Xu said. “And we need some kind of a restaurant like this in Plymouth too.”
