Brooklyn Park Woman Charged with Stabbing Man Outside Store
A Brooklyn Park woman is now charged after police say she stabbed a man in the neck outside a convenience store.
Unique Pernell, 29, is charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to the criminal complaint:
Witnesses said Pernell followed the victim into the convenience store in the 7400 block of Regent Ave. N. last Sunday just after 9:30 a.m. She then came out of the store and “immediately stabbed” the man in the neck with a kitchen knife.
The stabbing occurred as the victim began talking with two witnesses outside the store.
The suspect was seen wearing a red coat and flip-flops and walking to the Huntington Place Apartments where police determined she lived, the complaint said.
The weapon was lodged in the man’s neck and had to be surgically removed at North Memorial Health Hospital.
The motive for the crime is unclear.
One of the witnesses stated in the complaint that the crime “was odd because he did not believe the victim and and the defendant knew each other.”
The victim is recovering from the stabbing after surgery.
