Brooklyn Park Wants to Buy Old Library Site
The city of Brooklyn Park is considering what’s next for the old Brooklyn Park Library building and site. The building needs a new roof and the asbestos removed. The area needs a new parking lot. The repairs would total more than a half million dollars. The city council recently discussed the issue in a work session.
There has been a lot of interest from community groups on what could go in the building or on the land. Some suggestions include a business incubator or a senior center.
Right now the building is still owned by Hennepin County, so the city council directed the staff to inquire about purchasing the property.
