Brooklyn Park Restaurant Week Features Authentic Mexican at Si Señor Kitchen
Every city needs a good taco shop. Just ask Stephen Batcher of Brooklyn Park.
“If you don’t have a good taco shop, are you actually a real city,” said Batcher. “It’s just like a staple. You’ve got to have a good taco shop. It’s got to be a good place that’s welcoming to everybody.”
In his mind, Si Señor Kitchen fills that role in Brooklyn Park.
“We are an authentic taco shop,” said Diego Ruiz, the owner. Ruiz opened Si Señor Kitchen in March along Edinburgh Center Drive.
While the restaurant specializes in tacos, they also offer things like tamales, chilaquiles, burritos, and plenty of other items to satisfy your craving for Mexican food.
All of the items come from Ruiz’s old family recipes.
“Yeah, my sister helped me a lot too,” said Ruiz.
Since opening earlier this year, Ruiz admits that these first six months haven’t been easy.
“It’s a hard time for everybody I think. But yeah, hopefully get better,” said Ruiz.
Si Señor Kitchen opened in Brooklyn Park in March.
Restaurant Week involvement
To help get the word out about the new business, Ruiz decided to take part in Brooklyn Park Restaurant Week. Each participating restaurant offers a different promotion in an effort to get folks into their establishments.
“Hopefully we can get a lot of customers,” Ruiz said.
Si Señor Kitchen’s special Restaurant Week promotion is 20 percent off an entire order. The discount is what brought in Batcher and a host of his coworkers.
“We wanted to support the local restaurants that are participating,” said Batcher. “I’m a Brooklyn Park resident, so it’s awesome to see us kind of coming together. And I’ve been here before and it’s a great place to come back to. Love their tacos.”
The hope is that other folks will try the food here, feel the same way and keep coming back for more.
“And the most important thing is we make [the food] with love,” said Ruiz.
