Brooklyn Park Police Say Victims Robbed in Facebook Marketplace Sale
Brooklyn Park police are investigating a robbery that investigators say occurred as a result of an attempted Facebook Marketplace sale.
Police say the victims arranged to meet someone Tuesday evening in the 7600 block of Humboldt Ave. N. to purchase a cell phone through the e-commerce platform.
When the buyers showed up, two juvenile males displayed handguns, then took cash, debit cards, identification cards and a phone from the victims, police said.
The robbers ran away before getting into a waiting vehicle.
Police were unable to locate the perpetrators.
Brooklyn Park police say the case serves as a reminder to arrange internet transactions at a safe “swap spot,” such as at a Brooklyn Park police building.
The Brooklyn Park Police Department has two designated parking stalls at both its North building, located at 5400 85th Ave. N., and South building, 7608 Brooklyn Blvd. N., where individuals can meet to finalize internet transactions.
