Brooklyn Park Police Investigate Shots-Fired Calls
Brooklyn Park police had a busy weekend responding to several reports of shots fired.
Starting Friday at around 9:30 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired in the 5800 block of 73rd Ave. N. Police say they found evidence of gunfire as well as two unoccupied vehicles with bullet damage. Reports say they did not find victims or suspects and no witnesses would cooperate with police. Officers helped security disburse a large group.
A few hours later on Friday night, one of the calls that came in wasn’t because of a shots-fired call, but rather officers finding a man who had been shot. The call came in before midnight with a location of the 6400 block of Zane Avenue North. A police report says officers found a victim in the street with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The report also says the man was shot in Minneapolis before driving to Brooklyn Park to call 911. Minneapolis police are investigating.
Then on Saturday at around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to the 8000 block of Orchard Ave. N. for a shots-fired call. Officers found someone at the scene who did not have gunshot wounds, but reports say the victim was holding onto a vehicle as it sped away and was thrown off the vehicle. Brooklyn Park police say after the victim was thrown off the vehicle, someone fired nine gunshots at the vehicle as it sped away. The person who fired the shots ran away and was not found.
In the wee hours of Monday morning, officers responded to reports of eight gunshots fired in the 8000 block of Yates Ave. N. Reports say officers found the casings and surveillance video showing two suspects firing at a vehicle as it drove by. The individuals who fired the shots ran away and have not been located.
