Brooklyn Park Police Help Seize 24 Illegal Guns
Brooklyn Park police played a role in helping the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office seize a large cache of illegal weapons and drugs, authorities announced Thursday.
A total of 24 assault rifles and handguns were seized at an undisclosed residence in Brooklyn Park. In addition, law enforcement seized several bags of cocaine totaling one pound.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s office released a photo Thursday of the confiscated items. The Sheriff’s Office also arrested a suspect connected to the case.
The operation was carried out by the county’s Violent Offender Task Force, Emergency Services Unit and Enforcement Services Division in partnership with Brooklyn Park police.
The search warrant was one of several executed around the Twin Cities Thursday. Two others were carried out in St. Paul as part of the same investigation.
In a social media post, Sheriff Dawanna Witt thanked Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley for adding personnel to the task force that she says has aided in investigations and resulted in the recovery of “numerous firearms” in Brooklyn Park and throughout Hennepin County.
