Brooklyn Park Neighbors Attend Meeting on Increase in Shots-Fired Cases
The increase in shots-fired cases led to a community meeting in Brooklyn Park. Residents near Brookdale Park spoke with city leaders and police on Thursday night.
Chief Craig Enevoldsen said much of the violence in the suburbs is coming from Minneapolis.
“If there is a shooting and there is going to be retaliation, these folks know no boundaries,” said Chief Craig Enevoldsen. “If they happen to come across each other in Brooklyn Park, Robbinsdale or Crystal, that’s where something bad is going to happen.”
Enevoldsen also said the police department didn’t even track the shots-fired calls before 2020 because they were so rare.
Residents raised concerns about three shooting incidents at Brookdale Park in the last five weeks. Brooklyn Park police said one of those incidents was a person shooting a handgun at a deer.
