Brooklyn Park Mayor Jeff Lunde Invited to State of the Union
U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minnesota) extended an invitation to Brooklyn Park mayor Jeffrey Lunde to attend the State of the Union. Lunde has collaborated with Phillips on issues like Liberian DED status, light rail transit, and housing.
The State of the Union will be held on February 4. Aside from the speaker, each member of congress only gets to invite one person.
The city council approved Lunde’s travel in last week’s meeting, where Lunde also spoke about the opportunity.
“This is Brooklyn Park’s honor,” said Lunde. “This is the result of Brooklyn Park. By my elected position, I get to represent the city, but it is the entire city that’s been involved with this.”
A press release from Phillips’ office said Lunde collaborated on several issues.
“Our work together on DED is a clear example of what’s possible when individuals from all levels of government cast aside partisan affiliations, connect with their community, and work together to get things done,” said Phillips in a press release.
